VCO FOUNDATION EXTENDS EMERGENCY FLOOD RELIEF TO OGBARU COMMUNITIES

OGBARU, ANAMBRA STATE — The Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation today conducted an emergency flood relief mission to support affected communities in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, delivering essential supplies and financial assistance to displaced residents.

Led by founder Valentine Ozigbo, the foundation visited multiple communities near Afia Odekpe, where flooding has devastated local infrastructure and disrupted livelihoods. The relief materials distributed included cartons of noodles, bathing soaps, detergents, and direct cash support to affected families.

“This recurring disaster has become an annual burden on our people,” said Valentine Ozigbo during the relief distribution. “Ndoo nu, kasie nu [take heart, stay strong]. While we provide immediate relief today, we are committed to advocating for long-term solutions through partnerships with stakeholders and engaging our brothers and sisters in the diaspora.”

Ozigbo emphasized the critical need for proactive government intervention in flood-prone areas, calling for enhanced prevention measures and cross-regional collaboration to address the recurring crisis.

He commended Hon. Victor Afam Ogene (Akunnia Ogbahu), the Labour Party House of Representatives member for Ogbaru Constituency, for his strategic leadership in addressing the community’s challenges.

Local residents reported significant losses, including:

  • Destruction of fishing boats, the primary source of income for many families
  • Widespread displacement of residents
  • Severe damage to homes and personal property
  • Temporary relocation to community school buildings and neighbours’ homes

The Labour Party’s local leadership, including the chairman and deputy chairman, supported the foundation’s efforts by helping coordinate relief distribution to the most affected individuals.
