KUDOS TO THE OBIDIENT MOVEMENT FOR THE ENDORSEMENT AND CONTINUED SUPPORT – VALENTINE CHINETO OZIGBO

The Obidient Movement South-East Good Governance Symposium 2024, organized by Anambra State Support Groups, just ended on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the All Saints Cathedral Auditorium, Onitsha, Anambra State.
It had the National leader and Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, as the Special Guest of Honour with Nigerian political economist, management expert and former Presidential candidate, Prof Pat Utomi, as Keynote Speaker. It also had the Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Tanko Yunusa as Chief Host and Prof. Stella Okunna as Chairman.


The Keynote Speech: New Tribe of Patriots – Nigeria of Tomorrow by Prof Utomi kicked off the event while Mr. Valentine Ozigbo delivered a riveting speech on Ka Anambra Chawapu, An Ideological and Governance Framework. The topic, The Diaspora, The Important Link was delivered by Dr Tony Ikeme while Naija We Can, A New Funding Paradigm was by Barr. Nexus Sea; The Diaspora Obidients, Further Perspective was given by Prof Vivian Ojay and the Next Steps Of The Movement was delivered by Dr Yunusa.


Ozigbo said in his remarks: ‘I sincerely appreciate the organisers, the Obidient Movement and the Anambra State Support Groups for their great work towards the success of this programme especially for their dexterity in ensuring that the outcome advances the goals as set out, and more.
“I am also grateful for the reaffirmation of the August 21, 2024 endorsement of my candidacy when the leadership and members of all the Obedient Support Groups in Nigeria threw their weight behind me for the November 8, 2025 Anambra Gubernatorial election.


“Our problems and challenges in Anambra are getting more complex, grievous and multifaceted. There is a continuing slide into daylight terrorism, social oppression, retrogressive policies, constitutional abuse, executive recklessness and infrastructural neglect has cast serious doubts that question the integrity and competence of the Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo-led government. The social contract with Ndi Anambra is broken, neglected and abandoned, eroding hope, trust and confidence in the ability of the administration to pilot the affairs of the State.


“Ndi Anambra, in their disappointment, disillusionment and helplessness are yearning for change as it is becoming increasingly obvious that there is no Dubai Taiwan in the offing


“I am therefore most humbled that the leaders and members of 46 diverse Obidient Support Groups, including the influential Big 6 – Peter Obi Support Network, Women for Peter Obi, Take Back Naija, Nigeria Needs Peter Obi, UpNorth Ambassadors for Peter Obi, and Coalition For Peter Obi – are rallying behind me in this quest to liberate Anambra from the claws of mediocrity enthroned by an authoritarian, clueless and incompetent leadership. My special gratitude to God Almighty for this privilege. I also thank my Leader, Mr Peter Obi, for setting the pace that we now follow. I thank him for being a source of hope when Nigeria needed it the most and is still needing it.


“I thank all other people in our Obidient Movement, particularly Dr. Tanko Yunusa, Dr. Mo Paul, Okon Lagos, Nana Kazaure, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, Ikenna Azomchine, Mazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, Dan Elombah and all the committee members that made this happen.”
The South East symposium brought together leaders of the Obidient Movement from the other States of Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo. Prominent people who graced the event include Mrs. Azuka Enemo, Hon Justice Azuka, Hon Jude Umennajiego, Hon Pat Okafor, Hon Nigeria Henry Mbachu, Hon Uchenna Okafor (Omelora), Chief Chike Nwaiwu, Prince Mozie, Dr. Oseloka Obaze, Barr Don Amamgbo, Barr Ben Chuks Nwosu, Mr. John Nwosu, Hon Chuma Nzeribe, etc.
