Innovate Africa Conference 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda
I have just finished delivering my leadership charge at the Innovate Africa Conference 2026, here in Kigali, Rwanda, on the theme:
“Vision to Power: The Leadership Imperative for Building Africa’s Trillion-Dollar Economies.”
My message was simple but urgent: Africa does not lack resources, talent, ideas or opportunities. What we need is leadership equal to our possibilities, institutions worthy of our people, and the collective courage to confront the root causes of our challenges.
We must move beyond discussing what Africa needs to do and begin asking the more uncomfortable question: Why have we not done it?
The transformation we seek will require more than innovation, technology and capital. It demands truth, conscience, accountable leadership, stronger institutions and an awakened citizenry willing to take responsibility for our collective future.
I want to sincerely appreciate Uloma Onyebuchi and her entire team at Innovate Africa Conference for the vision, dedication and excellent organisation behind this impactful gathering.
My profound gratitude also goes to the President, Government and wonderful people of the Republic of Rwanda for the warm hospitality and for providing an inspiring environment for such important conversations about Africa’s future.
Rwanda offers valuable lessons in national discipline, institutional focus and the power of purposeful execution.
I leave this conference even more convinced that Africa’s transformation is possible. But we must stop outsourcing the responsibility to governments, international institutions, development partners or the next generation.
This is our watch. This is our responsibility. And this is our moment to act.
